Pam Grier: Friday Foster

Pam Grier, the diva of nineteen seventies Black action cinema, was known for her style, sass and roles challenging gender, race and class hierarchies.

We are celebrating the 25th anniversary re-release of Jackie Brown alongside Blaxploitation cult classics Coffy and Foxy Brown, and special 35mm presentations of Sheba, Baby and Friday Foster at the Ritzy Brixton.

Friday Foster (Pam Grier), an ex-model magazine photographer, goes to Los Angeles International airport to photograph the arrival of Blake Tarr, the richest black man in America.

But when three men attempt to assassinate Tarr, Foster photographs their tussle – and is plunged into a web of conspiracy involving a childhood friend, a US senator, and a shadowy plan called ‘Black Widow’.
