On April 3, director James Griffiths and actors and co-writers Tim Key and Tom Basden will join a preview screening of The Ballad of Wallis Island, a charming and affecting tale of lost love, renewed hope and human connection, which was already a hit at Sundance Film Festival in Utah in January. Universal Pictures UK will release the film only in cinemas on 30 May.

The Ballad of Wallis Island follows eccentric lottery winner Charles, who dreams of getting his favorite musicians, McGwyer Mortimer, back together. The fantasy becomes real when the bandmates and former lovers agree to play a private show at his home on Wallis Island. Old tensions resurface as Charles tries desperately to salvage his dream gig. The Ballad of Wallis Island stars Tom Basden, Tim Key, Sian Clifford, Akemnji Ndifornyen, and three-time Academy Award® -nominee Carey Mulligan. Based on the 2007 short The One and Only Herb McGwyer Plays Wallis Island, the film is directed by James Griffiths from a screenplay by Basden and Key.

On April 4, Scotland-born filmmaker John Maclean (Slow West) will host a preview screening of his second feature film, Tornado, which stars Tim Roth, Jack Lowden, Takehiro Hira, and Kōki. Set in the rugged landscape of 1790s Britain, Tornado finds herself caught in a perilous situation when she and her father's travelling puppet show crosses paths with a ruthless criminal gang led by Sugarman and his ambitious son Little Sugar. In an attempt to create a new life, Tornado seizes the opportunity to steal the gold from the gang's most recent heist; what follows is a thrilling tale of adrenaline-fueled action as Tornado fights to escape a violent demise. Lionsgate UK will release the film in UK cinemas on 13 June.
